STAHL SOAP CERTIFIED AS WOMAN-OWNED BUSINESS

East Rutherford, NJ (August 2005) - Stahl Soap, manufacturer of custom, quality bar soaps for a broad cross section of markets, has been awarded certification as a woman-owned business by The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). June Stahl, president of the East Rutherford based company, made the announcement.

The WBENC certification for women-owned businesses is one of the most widely recognized and respected certifications in the nation. Accepted by over 700 major corporations and several federal and government agencies, the certification is awarded to businesses that exe mplify WBENC's commitment to expand opportunities and eliminate barriers for women business owners.

WBENC certification consists of a detailed application and approval process. Businesses must meet strict criteria, which include 51% ownership by a woman or women, proof of effective business management practices and business control, and US citizenship or US resident alien status.

Founded by Ilbert Stahl in Vienna, Austria, Stahl Soap moved to the US after the Nazi occupation. Upon Stahl's death in 1975, June assumed a management position in the family-run business working closely with her brother Ken. Together they soon moved the growing company to Hoboken, NJ where it continues to maintain its manufacturing plant. Today the company operates under June's direction from its East Rutherford, NJ headquarters and warehouse.

In addition to her duties as president of Stahl Soap, June has served the industry as Chairman of the Board from 1997 - 1999 of the Soap and Detergent Association (SDA) and remains on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. She is currently vice president of the New Jersey Sanitary Supply Association (NJSSA).
